b-a-b-y baby?
Feb. 7th, 2026 03:28 pmi got out of bed today and for some reason i really wanted to watch baby driver. i have the dvd in my collection but i've never watched it before. putting it on it was incredibly disappointing for about thirty minutes. there were good bits definitely (he had a great choreographer) but the characters were genuinely tiring and didn't make any sense to me. as a WHOLE. the film was really good. wright will never miss an opportunity to put queen in and i wonder how much it cost to license all of this music. i think the main thing that put me off was his characterisation especially when he writes women.......debora and darling had zero fleshing out and basically just served as motivation for the male characters (darling for buddy..... when she died i thought it would have been entertaining if buddy didnt get all violent and killy and stuff but i dont really care because his scenes later were really good) (and debora for baby too i guess.) the way buddy was represented after darling died was a bit odd to me there was no sympathy for him at all which i found very strange. he immediately became a villain for wanting to kill baby even though baby was the reason his girlfriend died. and he became a villain for wanting to kill debora because baby was the reason his girlfriend died. i don't really understand that but whahtever. but oh my god there were so many scenes and concepts i think were just done so well i adore wrights style. neat neat neat heist scene where fuck all happened and you just saw baby drive forward about a metre and then reverse. one of his sunglass lenses shattering when he crashes into the truck in front of him (also very good) made him look like the blokek from the deer hunter the one who sets up nicky's russian roulette. i was also very excited to see the first heist scene because i KNOW IT from blue song music video starring noel fielding.
